General Description: Lemon, flowers (jasmine, wild ginger, gardenia, etc.), and honey are the most classic flavor elements of Ethiopian specialty coffee. Southern Ethiopia coffees like this one are produced from traditional, largely indigenous (heirloom) varieties of Arabica long grown in the region.
This lot was processed by the wet or washed method (fruit skin and pulp are removed before drying). Southern Ethiopia coffees processed this way typically show great aromatic complexity and intensity, with a particular emphasis on floral notes.
The name “Morea” is a combination of the Ethiopian words “honey” and “lemon”, but also evokes the Mandarin word for “Jasmine”. The Morea washing station is quite small but known to bring out all of these characteristic flavor notes.
This resulting coffee has a brown sugar sweetness, with orange blossom finish. A great coffee to enjoy as a first coffee of the day!
